Winter Gardening

With the rain comes new growth! πŸ’¦πŸŒ±

  • O’nell has been growing all the brassicas! Two tones of cauliflower, broccoli, and brussels sprouts

  • Amos has been diverting food plant waste by planting potatoes, garlic, and carrots and composting the rest

  • Alie’s been harvesting fennel seeds and planting new food and flower gardens

  • Eva’s narcissus have come up to bloom

Jubube spiced jam processing party

Saturday, January 11th, Time TBD (check calendar)

Process this year's harvest of jujubes (Ziziphus jujuba) into delicious spiced jam (like apple butter) this Saturday.

In case you haven't had the pleasure, jububes taste kind of like a cross between apples, plums, and dates. We like to add ginger and allspice to the jam, and who knows what else this year ; )

They're used in Chinese medicine. See the wiki for therapeutic info and some of the traditional ways they're preserved and eaten throughout the middle and far east.

The Animals Project is hosting monthly animal care days where we invite the community to stop by and hang out with our ducks, chickens, and goats.

Ever wanted to take a goat for a walk around the neighborhood? Ever wondered what the correct way to hold a chicken is? Stop by the farm and ask our Animals Project volunteers.
