Fall Fowl Butchering

It is that time of the year where we need to thin our flock of ducks.

We want to invite you to join us this weekend if you are interested in participating in learning about bird butchering.

After this Saturday, December 9th, we will have a few ducks frozen and ready for you to cook (free for Alameda Point Collaborative residents, and recommended $30-$50 donation for Makerfarm friends and volunteers).

Priority will be given to people who help with the butchering. Reply here if you’d like to put your name down for one.

Winter Solstice Celebration and Volunteer Day

This year we started celebrating the solar holidays as a way to better connect us with the seasons and our broader community.

With the exception of the Fall Equinox when an unfortunate set of miscommunications left some people stranded and confused (sorry again!), the other solar holiday celebrations were really fun and left the farm transformed.

We are really looking forward to doing it one last time for 2023, setting the Bay Area Makerfarm up for a wonderful 2024.

Looking forward to break bread and listen to some music with you!

Farmcycles Clinic, time for a change

We started Farmcycles to create a space where people could learn to gain confidence in their ability to fix their own bikes. This has worked to some degree, but the monthly clinics have been pretty sleepy πŸ˜΄β€¦ sooo, in this upcoming year we might try something new.

How would you like a space to practice defensive riding tactics to confidently commute in busy streets?

How would you like to learn to weld tall bikes?

How would you like to meet other bike commuters and scheme up some direct action/mutual aid/or community work project to improve the quality of our commutes?

These are some ideas we’ve been tossing around and we’ll probably cycle through them and more in the upcoming year at our regular Farmcycles clinic time (third Sunday, 12-2PM).
