Finance Committee

Purview

• Monitoring and managing the Makerfarm’s budget and guarantee fiscal health and ability to cover all obligations

• Communicate with other Makerfarmers about the state of the budget

• Approving committee and project expense requests from the general fund

• Negotiating Sponsor hardship requests

• Providing the Membership Committee with fiscal impact assessments of proposed changes to revenue models

• Managing the relationship with the Fiscal Sponsor when it pertains to issues of budgeting and accounting

• Review the Fiscal Sponsor’s accountant’s work

Roles

• Scheduler: send notice of meetings, ensure someone is signed up to facilitate, note-take, and agenda prep. Current role haver: Carmen

• Accountant: the point of contact with the Fiscal Sponsor on accounting matters. Current role haver: Tommaso

• Sponsor liaison: monitor incoming payments, follow-up with late-payers, and shepherd people going through hardship through the Fiscal Committee process. This position should be filled by someone willing to have hard conversations from a point of empathy. Current role haver: Tommaso

• Card Holder: hold the purse and make it available when expenses are approved. Current role haver: Carmen
