Our Structure

Anyone who spends time building community, art, or mutual aid projects at the Makerfarm is a Makerfarmer.

Admin Committees

Committees are the standing organizational bodies where process matters as much as outcomes.

Committee decisions are made on the consent principle. Membership is defined, and quorum is sought for meaningful decisions. Notes are taken and posted publicly.

Everyone who rents space at the farm and a representative from each project must be a member of at least one and no more than two admin committees.

Makerfarmers Committee

Composed of all Makerfarmers. This body sets policies for the organization, makes high-level decisions, and delegates most decisions and activities to the appropriate admin committee or working group.

Working Groups

Working groups are defined in scope and based around doing the work.

Working groups answer to a specific committee, have a defined scope and budget. The emphasis is on work, not process so neither consensus nor quorum are required, as long as nothing veers from the funding parameters.

E.g. Bylaws, Events, Electrical

Projects

Semi-autonomous collectives within the collective. They manage their own decision-making, budgets, plans.

Projects are sanctioned to operate on the farm by the Makerfarmer Committee, and are independent of all the committees except in the use of shared space, tools, and assessing costs.
